St
Gregory's Regeneration
Our Vision
Take a look at our short movie for
more information and then tell us what you think in the Bright
Ideas Blog. Just click the images below.
These are our current
plans for the regeneration of the
overgrown and disused St
Gregory's
site at Winyates, Redditch.
We are seeking funding from
myplace
to to transform the site, which is a magnet for
anti-social-behaviour, into a vibrant, innovative destination at
the heart Redditch's most deprived area, providing a range of
activities and services for young people aged 13-19 and up to 24
for those with additional need.

The proposed multi-use Centre will be
easily accessible. The site has established pedestrian links, a
proposed drop-off area, whilst excellent existing public
transport links serve further afield.
Our plans for the building include:
- Multi-use Theatre / Sports Hall
/ Conference Facility
- Training / Computer Suite
- Youth / Social Enterprise Zone
- Internet Cafe
- Digital Technologies Studios
- Youth / Training Kitchen
- Performing Arts and Craft Zones
- Interview / Counselling Rooms
- Sporting Activities
- Community-focused Space
- Climbing Wall and Fitness Suite
all with inbuilt flexibility,
allowing for changing trends in young people's interests.

Where are we now?
The deadline for expressions of interest
for myplace funding was June 2009, and Redditch YMCA is
delighted to be one of just forty organisations invited to
submit a full application.
We will know by the end of December 2009
whether our application has been successful. Only ten out of the
forty projects going forward to the next stage can ultimately
receive funding, and if we are successful, we hope to start
building by the Summer of 2010 and for the building to open
within 12 months.
What happens next?
Our talks with young people were extremely
helpful in putting together our initial bid, but as we move on
to the next stage we need to enhance our views on all topics
related to the potential of the centre.
So we really need young people to engage in
more detailed discussion as we do not want to miss this
"once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to wow the judges in terms of
the centre being "spectacularly different", "world class" and
having a "revolutionary" approach.
All your thoughts and suggestions will be
taken into account but as we have always said, if you
don't tell us, we will never know.
Please encourage all of your friends to put
their ideas/comments/suggestions onto the "Bright
Ideas" blog. You can go to the Blog by clicking
