About Us

Our Vision

Our vision for Worcestershire is of transforming communities so that all young people truly belong, contribute and thrive.

Our Mission

Our mission is to be first choice for helping communities transform so that all young people truly belong, contribute and thrive and therefore first choice for people allocating resources for the benefit of young people in need.

Our Values

Our vision and mission are guided by our values: YMCA is a Christian charity committed to helping people, especially the young, particularly at times of need, regardless of gender, race, ability or faith. We believe that it is our Christian faith that calls us to stand alongside people on their personal journey, and help them develop in body, mind and spirit.

Our guiding values are:

  • Valuing each person, and especially young people, with respect and understanding
  • Being inclusive and welcoming to all people of all religious faiths and none irrespective of sex, marital status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, disability, age or sexual orientation
  • Working for tolerance and understanding
  • Demonstrating openness, fairness, integrity & accountability
  • Being committed to learning from experience
  • Being flexible and open to change

The YMCA is not a church, nor is it affiliated to any particular denominational expression of Christianity. Our ministry is to show love in action: to work with people to meet their needs and to help build cohesive communities. Whilst many people who work or volunteer for the YMCA share a strong Christian faith, our ethos also warmly welcomes people of other faiths (or of no faith) to participate in YMCA activities, to volunteer for the YMCA, or to work in or with the YMCA.
